Elementor has one of the features is the ability to create forms for various purposes. However, forms on websites are prone to spam and bots, which can be a headache for website owners. To prevent this, adding reCAPTCHA to your Elementor forms is highly recommended.
reCAPTCHA is a free security service provided by Google that helps protect websites from spam and abuse by verifying that the user is human. In this article, I will guide you through the process of how you can add reCAPTCHA to your Elementor forms.
Step 1: Create a Google reCAPTCHA API key
To add a reCAPTCHA, You just need to connect your website with reCAPTCHA and add a reCAPTCHA field to your form.
You first need to get the reCAPTCHA keys from the Google reCAPTCHA website. You can choose from either reCAPTCHA v3 or reCAPTCHA v2. We recommend v3 as it is the new more secure, less intrusive method to use.
Click the V3 admin console button in the top-right corner. Log in with your Google account.
Click the plus button to register a new site.
- Enter the label
- Select reCAPTCHA type
- Add your domain
- Choose the owner’s email address
- And accept the reCAPTCHA to then click the submit button.
- On the next page, copy both the Site Key and the Secret Key.
Step:2 Add the API key to Elementor
- Enter these keys in the Elementor > Settings > Integrations > reCAPTCHA options and click Save Changes.
Step 3: Adding reCAPTCHA to Elementor form
Adding reCAPTCHA to form in Elementor is extremely easy since Elementor already has a reCAPTCHA field. To add one, Add a New Page and Edit With Elementor, and create a new form (by dragging the form widget to the canvas area) or edit an existing form.
To add reCAPTCHA, add a new field to your form by clicking the add item button. Set the field type to reCAPTCHA.
- Under Type, choose reCAPTCHA3
- Choose whether to place the badge to the right (bottom of the page), left (bottom of the page), or inline.
Step 5: Save and Publish your Elementor form
Click on the “Save” button to save your changes. You can now publish your Elementor form by clicking on the “Publish” button in the bottom left-hand corner of the Elementor editor. You will now see the badge on the page.
Congratulations! You have successfully added reCAPTCHA to your Elementor forms. This will help prevent spam and bots from filling out your forms and will keep your website safe and secure.
